Tool Storage: Getting Organized

January 21, 2008 Filed Under: Business General

Your busy and doing well, business is thriving – but suddenly you find that you’re so busy that the little things, those everyday things, have taken a slump for the worst and you can’t ever seem to find what you’re looking for.

Yesterday you promised to fix the office desk with the wobbly leg, but when you went for the screwdriver and spanner – they weren’t there where you thought you’d left them. After looking for an hour, you finally gave up and went home irritated at not having fixed the desk, but more because of the disorganized state of things.

It’s time. Time to get organized. For this particular task you need some sort of tool storage. A tool box would help you keep all the screwdrivers, spanners and whatever else is needed for the every day maintenance around the office.

Tool boxes are generally made out of stainless steel, aluminium or heavy duty plastic. What material your tool box is made of depends on your personal preference and what you’re going to put into the tool box.

In general tool boxes are portable. But depending on what type of tools you’re going to be storing in your tool box, you need to think about weight as straining your back is easily done carrying tools around. There is another option though – a tool box cart. Generally on wheels for ease of movement, your tool box can be pulled around with ease and without getting hurt. These are handy as some feature drawers as well as trays, so you can keep all of your tools in one place and organized.

Some tool boxes can be locked, and some include keys and locks, while others don’t. Many tool boxes have removable trays for small tools or parts. Instead of carrying the entire tool box, simply carry the tray with your most-needed tools. Some models feature a drill bit, screws, nuts and bolts organizer

Keep in mind that tool boxes, tool carts and tool organizers range in price, depending on the features. Get yourself organized – so you wont have to spend hours on end trying to remember where you left the screwdriver last time – you will of course have put it in your tool box.
