Quick, Inexpensive Memory Upgrade

If your computer is getting sluggish it’s probably time to clean up, but if after cleaning up it’s still running slow, then it could be that you don’t have enough memory for all the programs you’re running. There’s an easy and inexpensive way to cure all this and that’s to give your computer a memory upgrade.
Adding RAM to your PC is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to boost its performance, and memory upgrades are the simplest and most affordable way to speed up a computer. Instead of buying a brand new one.
RAM is allocated by the operating system and programs, and then released when not needed, although some applications can hold on to the RAM and not release it, which results in a diminishing amount of memory available as you load and use more programs. Before purchasing computer memory, make sure you know that there are slots available on the motherboard for the card to be added.
When physical memory is insufficient, the system uses hard disk space as temporary memory. Since access time of physical memory is in tens of nanoSeconds and access time of your hard disk is in milliSeconds, the system slows down considerably. When software runs out of RAM, Windows then starts swapping data to and from your PC’s hard disk, a much slower process than fetching it from and writing it to RAM. Opening multiple applications from a desktop computer or laptop is not unusual. There are times that after opening around 3 or more program applications we experience some sluggish response.
There are many upgrade suppliers where you can get good deals to buy memory both online and off – look for quality as well as savings and good support, before making your purchase.
Check your computer’s user manual or if using Windows via control panel and performance and maintenance to determine how much you have and what kind of RAM your computer supports—SDRAM, DDR, RDRAM.
To determine the other characteristics of the RAM installed on your computer, you may need to contact your computer manufacturer, but upgrading memory is very easy to do and nothing to be afraid of, in fact most memory suppliers are able to safely scan your computer and tell you what type and how much RAM you already have and make suggestions on upgrading.
