Festivals Renaissance Style

May 31, 2008 · Leave a Comment

For several decades, Renaissance festivals, carnivals and processions have been large, lavish annual events to look forward to, where players dress up in authentic looking copies of renaissance clothing and re-enact life during the English Renaissance period, at about the time of reign of Queen Elizabeth I.

Some of the earliest Renaissance festivals were held in Hollywood in the early 1960′s. Since then festivals have spread across North America rapidly, although festivals of this type are also held all over the world for example in Australia, Denmark, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Greece and Sweden to name but a few.

One of the most notable is the Carolina Renaissance Festival in America, which takes place during six weekends, incorporating a ten stage theatre, twenty acre circus, arts and crafts stalls, as well as a jousting tournament and grand feast, which is all contained within a medieval themed amusement park.

Renaissance Festivals, Shakespeare Festivals, and Jousting Tournaments are very well worth visiting if you get the chance. Make sure you book accommodation well in advance, to avoid disappointment. There are plenty of options to choose from.

Positive Thinking Brings Self Confidence

May 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

One of the main secrets to running a successful business is to have confidence and of course the amount of self confidence varies in every one as we’re all unique. Self confidence is generally based on how well or not well we’ve handled previous, difficult situations. The end product is how we feel about ourselves in relation to those around us.

Self confidence is something that we are all born with, but somehow we lose some of it along the way, many people have little or no self confidence at all, where positive thinking can sometimes become negative thinking and we forget how to be confident.

Some of the ways to overcome not having self confidence is to recognize your insecurities. For example what does the voice in the back of your mind say? What makes you feel ashamed of yourself? This could be anything from acne, to other imperfections or regrets, to emotional abuse from loved ones or friends at school. Whatever is making you feel unworthy, ashamed, or inferior, try to identify it and write it down.

Talk about your insecurities with friends and loved ones. There’s no quick fix so get to the root of the problem, focus on it and understand that you need to resolve each issue before moving on.

Try to remember that no one is perfect and that even the most confident people have insecurities. At some point in any of our lives, we may feel we lack something. That is reality. Learn that life is full of bumps along the way.

Always try to identify your successes because everyone is good at something – you too. So discover the things you are good at, focusing on your talents. Give yourself permission to take pride in them. Give yourself credit for your successes. Inferiority is a state of mind in which you’ve declared yourself a victim. Do not allow yourself to be victimized.

Self confidence is usually built up through a history of positive experiences, and with an improved sense of self confidence you will find that your esteem and mental state will be greatly improved as well.

Train your mind and subconscious mind so that you can achieve your goals. Be aware of your thoughts and how you choose them – choose good thoughts over negative thoughts as thoughts easily become things.

Self-esteem is built upon the experience of success. Think of it as a circular process. Self-esteem can also be defined as the combination of feelings of capability with feelings of being loved. A child who is happy with an achievement but does not feel loved may eventually experience low self-esteem.

If feeling good about yourself is wearing sexy costumes, then so be it – there isn’t anything wrong with this if it helps you to win your self esteem and confidence. Feeling good on the inside and who doesn’t want to, even by the clothes we wear, even though not seen i.e. underwear, sexy costumes – can be an extremely good help to overcome ones insecurities.
